NFL Show, Newcastle

NFL Show, 12th December 2009

Team Phoenix MMA fighter Chris Douglass took a little break from his usual MMA activites, to try his hand at stand-up and fought on the NFL show held at Newcastle University, fighting Pro K1-Rules 3 x 3minute rounds.

Chris is a grappler (and a very good one) and has always had doubts about testing himself in pure stand-up, but he handled the fight very well, pushing his opponent back constantly with punches and keeping the pressure on throughout.

There was a little controversy about the points decision as it went to Chris’s opponent Juan and many people there thought that Chris had done enough to take it. We personally felt a draw would have been the correct decision, however taking nothing away from Juan at all who was very tough. It was good matchmaking from Mr. Jose!

MSA Muay Thai Premier League Bolton

Muay Thai Premier League Show, Reebok Stadium, Bolton 7th November 2009

We had the pleasure of watching Liam Harrison take on yet another Top Thai, Saketdao at the MSA Muay Thai Premier League show at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton. Also on the card was Saenchai V Rob Storey, Andy Howson V Rungraeeve Sasiprapa, Jordon Watson V Stephen Meikle and a heap of other talented top English fighters.

These shows are going to set the standard for Thai Boxing in the UK and are going to get bigger and better every time. The next one is scheduled for March 2010 at the M.E.N arena in Manchester and headlining will be Liam Harrisons rematch with Anuwat Keuwsamrit.

It was a real honour to see Saenchai fighting in England again for the second time this year.

Team Phoenix Christmas Party

Once again we abused the 80’s karaoke and all got dressed up in the name of 80’s rock!

Fantastic and hilarious night out as usual but with the added bonus of Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, some dodgy blonde-mullet man and a walking rubix cube gracing us with their presence! Merry Crimbo one and all!

Poland Summer camp 2009

I was asked to teach once again this year at Robert Karpinskis Warriors martial arts summer camp in Poland. This is a fantastic camp for kids, teens and a few adults. Set in the lovely Polish country side this 3 week camp gives the kids something very productive to do over the summer.  our training consisted of 7am running, then i taught a group class for all 75 people from 11-1. Robert taught a class from 4-5 then Robert and i trained privately  for an hour. We then ran 15 mins there and back to our evening training area where i taught the older and more advanced students from 8-10.  Was really great to see all these lovely people many of whom i had met before. They took me for a day out to see Aushwichz death camp, which was an unforgettably moving experience. And then to a fantastic waterpark which made for a day of intense highs and lows! I am defiantly looking forward to next year!
